I built our first grandchildren a rocking horse nearly 10 years ago. Two new grandchildren demanded two more horses this Christmas.

The first horse I made was from spalted maple and walnut. This time I happened to have some ash on hand, so went with that. I had to rebuild some jigs and refit parts, since I couldn't find all my original pieces.

Wish I had a set like that. Wonderful job. How long did they take to make?

The real time consuming work was building the jigs/patterns. After that was done, I would estimate that the two horses would take about 30 hours, not counting finishing. Every single wood-wood fitting is a curved piece.
