Very interesting form on this one - not sure I have seen one before! Love the wood! Great spalting! Looks like you have some curl in there as well! Another good looking finish! Sure looks thin! Must be light as a feather!
Nice work Hilel! Thanks for sharing!

Oh wow. This one is beautiful. I was wondering what you meant when you said you would make a HF, and how that would help show the spalting and figure. Got it now, turn it over and display the beauty. Great job.

What a unique form and a great way to show off the character of this wood...Bill...

Wow!! That is some beautiful wood, and a great way of maximizing the artistic nature of the piece.

Thanks for the kind words. It's very thin and very light. I used Randy Privett's articulated system on it and it was nice enough inside so that I didn't bother trying to sand it.
Randy's system allows even a hack like me to make hollow forms.

Hilel, I like the squat shape of this one! It really shows off the wood and the spalting! I will put it in my to do pile also!
I have been building steady rests and I keep thinking of you and the arms and things for bowls and platters, after Christmas I will get at them.
Great form,
Jeff

Hilel, that's a remarkable combination of turnings to come out of a single piece of wood. Now they'll need to stay together.

Ahh ... Now the "mushroom shaped hollow form" comment makes sense. It certainly shows off that impressive spalting.
