I'm looking at purchasing a planer which the seller states is a General International model 130 and looks similar to the General model. He also states it is made in Drummondville in 1994. It is for sale below $2000 Can and in excellent shape.

Is this General quality or ???

General International brand is imported, asian manufactured machinery. The General brand is manufactured in Canada. General lists the model 130 on their website, and states that it is manufactured in Canada. Two different arms of the same company.

I don't know that specific machine, but General is considered a manufacturer of high quality equipment, and is very well regarded by many.

Score; General 130 made in 1991. Not a General Interational. Picked this and a 6" General Jointer up for $1600 Can. with spare knives jigs for setting knifes etc etc.

That is a very good deal, on a very good machine..

I bid on one in an auction at one time.. It went for well over $2000.00

Those machine are still made new, and have been made for a long time, at one time, they where sold new without a motor..

The owners manual is (I believe) downloadable from the General website.

Canadian Made General is very well regarded.. That machine is about $5000 new .. Its a factory grade machine, popular in schools.

That planer will last you a lifetime..
