Jim, that is some beautiful wood. And, I know you fought the finish, but they were worth the effort!

The wood really was beautiful and thanks for your help, John.
Tom, I got the glass from Craft Supply (www.woodturnerscatalog.com) and the tutorial was very straight forward. I put the finish on before separating from the tenon whereas the tutorial put the finish on after separation. They used a spray lacquer which I couldn't apply to the Cocobolo.

Very nice looking stems. They flow really well with the shape of the glass.

Not sure how much cocobolo you have turned, but since it is an oily wood, one thing that I have found before applying a CA or laquer finish to some of the pens I have made is right after sanding, I wipe it down fairly well with DNA just prior to going on to the finish. This will help ensure the finish adheres better.
