This is for feeding peanuts (in the shell) to the freeloading scrub jays and stellar jays that hang around here in the winter. It's 15" tall, 6" dia not counting the perches, made from walnut scraps and Home Depot dowels. You put the peanuts in the hole on top and then slide the cone back down so it hangs centered on the nylon parachute cord. Didn't sand past 120 and just sprayed it with spar varnish.
Sorry about the crappy photos.

Curt - that's a really cool feeder! Don't think I've seen anything like it before! Glad to hear you have some birds! I just finished a feeder (flatwork) and haven't seen a bird since I put it out in the yard 4 days ago! Might be because it isn't round.....

Nice work! Always fun to see what you come up with next!

Pretty neat plan there, Curt! Nothing like feeding the birds in high fashion!! Hope you can keep the starlings and grackles from stealing all the food meant for the jays!!

concider it copied, my 2 year old will love the birds and squirles, or as he calls them, chip and dales.

Very nice. Looks like it would be a fun project! The snow here has really brought the birds to our feeders today.

Very nice - great idea, but walnut is a little too fancy for the jays.
