Jason W. had a great thread a short while back about storing items overhead. Several of us remarked that when we thought we were out of room, we looked up, and . .. Eureka.
Longer clamps are of use less often for me than others. I did some repair on a front door yesterday and as I was putting things back today I thought to take a couple pics.

You can see that these are super quick to make and go up and come down (if required) with a couple screws.

Its the same concept as this "temporary" lumber storage method. I keep boards that I have pre-picked out of the main lumber racks in these. This keeps them at hand and I can put rough sized boards back into these temp holders till its time to do final sizing.
