I haven't been home since I put it all together on Tuesday, until last night. I finally got to have some fun:D. I made a good mess turning a NE apple bowl (man it smells good while turning!).

But apparrently it was getting too late and I was getting tired. I didn't pay attention to where I set the gouge back on the tool rest and BAM:eek::o The gouge caught the wing of the bowl and destroyed it. Of course I was almost finished just taking the final cuts. Oh well, just some more practice. (Once it broke I was just playing around making a few more curlies, hence the grooves and hole in the middle)

I spent today working on a caster system to move it around when I need to, but I broke my tap. Once I get them done and see if they work, I will post it.

Hope everyone is have a great weekend and all the new Mustard owners out there are enjoying theirs!!

The PM looks at home, but bummer on the bowl! Lucky the gouge didn't end up in the top of your foot, or worse.

First impression: Fabulous! My first apple bowl I had roughed out on my shopsmith it took me a couple of hours:eek:. I could only take about 1/16" off at a time without stalling the motor. I was able to take between 1/4 to 3/8 at time on the monster, reducing that time to 45 min.

Now I just need to start cutting up some of my stash of wood and get to roughing out!
