Guys, your opinions and experiences are prized and sought after. Here's my situation: I have a two car garage that I convert to my shop daily. Every night the cars go back in. All my floor machines are portable and store against a wall. The heaviest, a Dewalt planer and a 14" bandsaw move with relative ease. My Bosch 4000 is a breeze to move around.

Now I am lusting after a used cabinet saw that I have the "wall space" for.
Question: Is it realistic to move a 600# powermatic on a good mobile base every day?

Simple answer - yes. There are a large number of Creekers who do it. Search for "mobile base" and you'll get tons of info.

I too work in my garage. Everything moves easily including cabinet saw.

My 30" class cabinet saw is on a moble base and works great for my smaller shop. Not sure how a 50" class table top saw would work on a mobile base - ?

I have a PM66 with an Incra TSIII fence system (92" rails), used 1" thick phenolic for the right and left wings and there is a WoodPecker PRL with PC7518 router in the right wing. I am not sure of the actual weight but it is no problem to move it around my shop which is also a two car garage, no cars are allowed in my shop unless I am doing repairs to them.

I have a Bridgewood 12" table saw that has been on a home made wood base since I bought it. It has the 50" fence with a router lift. I build cabinets under the fence that houses router dust collection, several routers and accessories, measuring tools, and a storage cabinet for my Dewalt 12 1/2" planer. I figure I am rolling around about 1000 pounds.

I made the base out of 2x10s, 2x4s and plywood. It brought the saw up about 7" which is perfect for me. I am 6'5" tall.

I'll see if I have pictures.

As long as you have good quality wheels. I switched from cheap BORG wheels to quality wheels and not I can push my saw with one hand.

I had the same thoughts a couple of years ago. I have this on 4-swivel and 2-fixed casters that I got from Woodcraft (red ones). I have moved it in in out probably several hundreds of times:

As stated by the others, yes you can move it around. I had a 12" cabinet saw with 50" rails on rollers and a sliding table accessory in my previous shop. Moving it is a bit of a PITA, but certainly doable.

As said above, the quality of the wheels makes a huge difference in ease of mobility. If you have a lead on a good deal, take it!

I move my ICS Sawstop around on the mobile base. It's haevy, but can be done alone. Mark the floor where you set it down, so it goes in the same place every day. That way it will be at the same level all the time.

Yes, just get (or make) a good mobile base.

Thanks to all of you for your input. I am now in the market for a PM66 !!! In fact, I just missed one that sold last night. It was offered on craigslist for $750 and I am encouraged by the price here in the Northwest.
