Larry, nice case. How about some construction details. The CVW 2 - is that etched into the plexi or glass? What are the materials and how did you inlay the lighter (maple?) material? Sorry for all the questions, but I make a lot of shadow boxes and this one is really nice. Excellent work.

Be well,

Doc

Sorry should have included more details but was in a hurry, The case is mahonany with maple inlayed into the edge, the miters were a real bear I made a jig to cut them at 60 deg but didn't feel safe using it so it was a good excuse to get a new incra 1000se (small gloat), The glass is 3/16" laser etched, Chuck Burke was gracious enough to offer to assist with the etching but I had it done by someone at our command for time sake. The backing is simple 1/4" gator board with velvet covering it the small seperator waves are maple I made on a drill press then cut the wave with a bandsaw. The sword sits on two mahogany pedistals attached with hot glue to sit it off the backing. I used BLO on it but did not use any clear coat, it's too cold and humid here and was afraid it would turn out cloudy.
Thanks all for looling and the compliments.

Excellent craftsmanship on a gift that will likely be the centerpiece wherever it is! Beautiful.

Larry,

CAG will be pleased with this and the Mess owes you big time. They could not have gone out in town and got a better shadow box. Good job Shipmate!
