Just got my PM3520 and got it all wired up and ready to go. When I bought the lathe I ordered a Stronghold chuck for it. I also ordered a new adapter so I could use one of my Talons on it. Sadly none of this has shown up yet.

But, I use a collect chuck for pen making and don't have an adapter for the 3520. And I can't get the stock "Monster" tool rest close enough to the pen blanks for "reliable" turning.

What's a guy to do when he has to make a couple of pens for a customer order??

Patience Grasshopper. :) Good things come to those who wait.

At least turn a small bowl on the 10-14 and shoot some shavings onto the Powermatic

That is painful to see. Little guy gets to have all the fun while big 'yella sits and waits!? Have a heart and run out and get a spindle adapter quick...Bill..

Thank you thank you thank you

I had never heard of a spindle adapter before. I googled it and ordered one yesterday.

Well, rather than wait to turn pens on it, I would use the faceplate that came with it, screw on a hunk of firewood, and make shavings ASAP! That's what I did when I first got mine. A couple weeks later, after ordering a #1MT adapter and a spindle adapter, I was able to use my older lathe fixtures. But in the meantime, I had a ball :)
