Has anyone tried these from HD? They're basically vaccuum motors that mount onto 5gal buckets.

They're so cheap ($20) and compact, I wonder if they're usable as dedicated dc's for small tool stations...?

What a great idea. Too bad they don't make one for a 55 gallon drum. The only problem I can think of is that it would be really easy to tip over unless you made some kind of base for the bucket.

Sounds interesting . . . but aren't there some pretty cheap shop vacs already?

I bought one a few months ago, and works great for what it is. I use it with my orbital sander, rail circular saw, router - anything I can think of that will use the 1.5" hose, or 1.25" - can't remember the size.

Has good suction.

I purchased the foam filter was is made for wet use, but use it as my main filter.

I am thinking about making an internal baffle similar to the Phil Thien baffle.
