I have a Nova 1624 with the tubular steel legs. It is bolted to the floor but can still move a bit. Has anyone out there added some counterweight to this setup, and how did you attach it to the lathe. (I probably should have gotten the cast iron legs in the first place)

Hi matt
Im not familiar with the tube leg setup on a nova ...but if u have a shelf frame or can make one ..a really easy way to add weight is with weight bench weights..i use some of these on my old HF lathe that i picked up at a local goodwill store ..25lb each..used 5 of them and just hung them along the shelf frame with some old 1" rod material i had laying around threw the center hole .
Worked great and still allowed the shavings to fall threw to the floor.

i used to have that lathe, with the tube legs. i would get longer bolts for the legs and 4 chains holding some sort of ballast box. that should do the trick.
