So I read the other day that SEARS had the Trend Airshield on sale for $299, so I ordered one. It took 24 hours to get my confirmation email. I ordered on Monday 12/14. Confirmation email on 12/15. On 12/16, I received an email saying that the order was cancelled, and that no charges would be placed on my credit card. No reason for the cancellaiton was stated. I called customer service and they said they were out of them, even though my confirmation email stated I would receive my product on 12/17. To make matters worse, I found out today that they charged my credit card. I am on hold with them right now to speak to a supervisor, been on hold 16 minutes and counting, the person I talked to said they would credit my account in 3 to 5 business days. I feel this in unaccepible -- and thus my rant. BEWARE OF SEARS!

Wow, that sucks. So, not only is your credit card tied up and and you're wasting time with customer-no-service, you also don't get the new toy. At least not at the price you thought you were getting.

The stories I could tell about Sears "Customer Service"...

When I was building my house they were the prime/only local source for a NUMBER of things I needed.

One was the large Range Hood. Since it was a large range, the hood had to be also. So I ordered a 40 inch hood

It arrived, sans blower. So they re-ordered another complete hood and billed me for two complete hoods

I talked to "Them" and they gave me credit for the 2nd hood

and billed me for it a third time

I talked to "Them" and they gave me the credit, again

and billed me for it a fourth time

I talked to "Them" and they gave me the credit, again. I ended up calling headquarters in Chicago over this one.

That didn't stop them from billing me for it a fifth time (which was the last time).....

Years later, when they moved from their down-town location to the Mall, I got a call asking if I still needed the blower (they found the first blower, 5 years later)

Well, at least they found it! What are you complaining about? LOL

Sounds like it's time to call your credit card company....

They should put a stop to that mess in a hurry.

Steven I went thru the same thing with Sears. I called my CC company and they took care of it in a few minutes. I won't buy from Sears unless it is the last resort and not with credit.

Wow, that is a good price. Did you buy one from them? Or has anyone? With a few of the off topic threads lately about scam websites, I'm a little nervous when I see a good deal.

Hmmm, they list the MSRP as $230. I don't know, I don't get a real good feeling from this place.

Well, even though BBB has nothing on them, their street address checks out. There's actually a business named "Performance Line Tool Center" there.

Maybe it's legit. If so, I'm very tempted to order one.

Will the purchase of Christmas presents for my wife never end?

That one listed at Performance is not the PRO series and lists for $299 compared to $399 for the Trend Pro air shield. Sears listed the Pro for $299.00. I returned mine from Sears due to a broken head strap in shipping. The catalog center would not accept it and I had pay to return it so I can't recommend Sears either at least for Trend Products.
I'm saving for the 3M model next year.

I just took a look at the address in Google's street view, and it really is there. Maybe it is legitimate. I'd still like to hear from someone who has actually been there, or even better ordered off of the website.

You're right Keith. That isn't the pro model. Thanks for pointing that out. They do have the Pro for $298 though. With free shipping.

They are legit. They had several stores in this area but have consolidated to one location. I got some very good prices on router bits when they closed their Madison Heights store. Can't speak to the Airshield, but they are a legitimate store

+1. I used to shop at that store a lot too before it closed. They always did a good job for me. Good service. They are legit.

I ordered the Trend Pro Airshield from Sears when then had the friends and family sale on a Sunday and had the unit in hand by Thursday. It was delivered in great shape for $267.75. I really like it too. Sorry to hear others had problems.

I am sorry that you had bad luck.

I ordered one from Sears and it came VERY quickly and everything was fine. For once I guess I was lucky.

Sears has been nothing but a dissapointment to me in the recent years. They have some great prices on Sale items that if your lucky will be in stock. The last item I purchased from Sears I had to go back to the store 3 different times to pick it up. I recieved a Sears gift card last year for Christmas and that is the only reason I went there. I saw a drill press I wanted attempted to purchase it and was told they didn't have any in stock but they would sell me different model (more Expensive). I tell them no thanks I wll take a rain check. I am running errands one day and decide to stop by Sears to check on my drill press. Walking in I see they have the exact same model on sale for less than what it was on sale for before. I tell them I want it, they tell me they ran out, that they would have to order it, or sell me a different model. I ask if they had any in stockprior to starting the sale on them? I am told yes they did. I place my rain check on the counter and ask why I was never called? No answer on that one.

Don't shop at Sears.......Thats all I can say.

Allright who got me going on this????? I am sure my BP is through the roof right now........lol

FWIW... Performance tool is not far from my house and I generally shop there when I need it now. The web-based business is an offshoot of the B&M location.

Sale must have ended at Sears - like I said, I got it on sale a few weeks ago with no issues

I think Sears is up to their old tricks again. Remember the bait-and-switch problems of 30 years ago.

I ordered an Airshield Pro from them on the 12th and received a confirmation email. At the time the price was $299 and the web page said 1 left in stock. On the 16th I got an email notification from Discover Card that a large purchase has been posted to my card. Sure enough, it's the charge from Sears. So I check the Sears web site and the order appears to have been processed, but has no tracking number assigned. The next day, I get another email from Discover this time stating that a refund has been posted to my account. Sears again. They appeared to have canceled the order. No email notification from Sears was received and no indication could be found on their web site that the order was canceled. The order still had no tracking number.

Ok, so I figure that maybe the one remaining Airshield got sold and they're out of stock cancellation process is lacking feedback. Back at the their website I find that there are now 7 units in stock. So, being a glutton for punishment I place another order. At least this time they have a free shipping promotion going on. I figure that if by some chance I get two Airshields, I'll just return the extra one to the local store as per their policies.

That was the 16th and here we are at the 18th. The new order looks exactly like the previous one other than the total is less due to the free shipping. It does not have tracking number either. No indication from Discover yet as to if my card was charged and/or refunded. And guess what - the price for the Airshield on their web site is now $399! Oh, and when I checked, they still had 7 in stock.

It would appear that Sears may be trying to avoid honoring the price that was posted on their website. Maybe it was a mistake left over from a sale. I really don't care - no brick and morter store would be allowed to get away with this. I'm not sure of the actual rule/law/regulation, but stores must sell at the price that they have posted unless it's an obvious error.

At this point I don't know if Sears will fill my second order or not. I had planned to push the issue with them, but why bother with the possibility of ordering from Performance Tool Center. If I do by some chance receive an Airshield from Sears, I'll simply take it back to the local store after receiving the one from PTC.

I decided to order from PTC immediatly, rather than wait for the Sears issue to resolve, because I didn't want to risk missing the price at PTC.

No more ordering from Sears for me.

---Scott.

Contact Trend people. They had a problem with the first model headband. They will replace it for no charge.
