This wood came from a tree I had to take out of my mom's yard. It's some kind of ornamental juniper, not red cedar but similar. It's about 8" x 5.5" I'm guessing, didn't really measure it, and just has a first coat of oil on it so far, still wet.

Great colors! Striking! Hope you can get it to eventually be like that when dry.

That's really pretty... such an unusual pink color. I love the heart/sap contrast, and the overal shape is pleasing.

Beautiful vase Curt! Really like the form! Pretty wood - colors and grain pattern! Cool that you were able to include a few knots for contrast!

Very nice work - as always! Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful work Curt. Love the form of it. Do you turn it wet an just leave it be?

Nice work! Turning knots doesn't sound like fun! I am hoping that my flatwork encounters with them are worse than on the lathe.

Curt, really nice looking piece. I have been turning a little bit of cedar lately and I can see the resemblance but not as dark I like it.

A good many of the upright junipers are some type of cultivar of the Rocky Mtn. juniper which most folks call red cedar.
