I am in Rockport, TX and I have decided to build some furniture for the first time. I am going to start with a dining table and see how that goes. I was wanting to find solid oak 2x4's or 2x6's and unsure of where to start looking for custom wood.

Take a look at Woodfinder (http://www.woodfinder.com/). You should see some listings for your area.

You are only 30 minutes or so from Corpus. Call or drive there and ask cabinet shops where they get their lumber. There is probably a good source less than an hour from you. My point is go to the major users/buyers, they know where everything is.

Thanks for the replies. I tried South Texas Molding in Corpus but no luck, they would have to do a glue together to get my thickness. I definitely wouldn't mind ordering it if I can get a fair price.
