Looking to hang my K-body and pipe clamps from the ceiling joists. Tried ladder hooks, but they're too small.

Maybe some 1/2" steel gas/water pipes? Other ideas?

I used a forstner bit to make holes in some chip board to put 2x2s through. I then screwed those up to the joists. The clamps are stored on top of the 2x2s. Like this.

I got this from a WW mag's (can't remember which one) reader tips section. I used a dado set to cut notches in some 2x4's I jointed/planed. Drilled pocket screw holes between each notch, alternating sides to keep the screws from pulling the piece out of square with the joists. Works great except that I have to get out a step stool to get the clamps down. They sure stay out of the way, though. It works with my Besseys but not the Jorgensen parallel jaw clamps (they're too tall to fit through the notches, and my dado set is too short to make the notches deeper).
