Yes. I had the one from Rockler and it worked really well. Just be sure to hone the drill bit and the outside as well.

I have always used a wood dowel with the end ground to fit the inside of the hollow chisel. I dip it in light oil and then into some fine abrasive powder. The cones are probably less messy.

I got the Lee Valley version:

I'll try to report back when I have had a chance to use them, which depnds on how long I can stand to mess around in the shop before I freeze to death.

I have one as well. I found the handle about useless though as it's difficult to keep the stone straight in the chisel when trying to grind the inside of the chisel by hand.

I found it much more effective to clamp the chisel in the drill press vice, then use the drill press (on the slowest speed) to gently grind the the inside. Just make sure you sharpen the outside of the chisels when finished.

I've used the Lee Valley ones in my drill press. They worked well. I just wish they made a bigger one that I could use for my 3/4" chisel. I've been using my dremel tool for that, and since it's hand-held it's harder to get consistent results.

The Lee Valley sharpening cones I got are huge. They look like you could do a 1 1/2" chisel with them. I planned to use my metal lathe- put the chisel in the 3 jaw chuck in the headstock, and the sharpening cone in a drill chuck in the tailstock.

I use the set you show. they work fine. The coarse one starts the job and the fine one does the secondary bevel. Then I lap the outside surfaces on a 600grit diamond stone and it's game on.
