Most fortune cookies are hilarious, some are bizarre, but every now and then you get a gem.

Here's one I got the other day: "The strength of a nation derives from the integrity of the home".

Agreed, most are just numb. This one is attributed to Confucius. A short list of quotes by Confucius:

I like "You cannot open a book without learning something." I learned that I couldn't read Italian once.

Some are very familiar in different forms. Elbert Hubbard (Roycrofters) must have had a book full of them. He famously used them as starting points for short morality stories.

You did get a gem, John.

My SO and I were out to dinner several years ago. At the end of the meal we opened our fortune cookies and my fortune read, "Stop searching forever, happiness is just next to you." I have it taped to my monitor as a reminder.
