Does it matter how long the top is compared to the body length of the Grinder? Thanks, Sean

As long as the total length of the grinder from the bottom of the mechanism to the top of the grinder remains the same, the length of the top can be whatever you want to be. Remember that the top rotates on a tenon so you need to take that into account.
