Hope this is the right forum...

I am looking for ideas for a king size bed project. We like the rustic look but really not into log furniture. I searched the forums but no luck. Has anyone made anything similar or have a few photos / plans they could share?

Thanks in advance.

I did. I don't like typical log beds either so I made this one.... (http://www.hannawoodworks.com/Alogbed2.html)

The cool thing about this one is the bed and it's frame are separate from the head/footboards frame. I used a grid system of 2x4's to support the mattress and none of it is connected to the main frame.

I plan on making more of these for family and friends and they will have 1.5" thick panels instead of the 3/4" panels mine has. This is actually both our bed and a test design for the final one. I have changed a few things in the joinery department as I also hate those pesky mortise and tenon joints you always see on log furniture.

Kelly's looks good Nick. I don't use plans but if you don't care for the one Kelly posted I would find a bed plan and wing it from there converted the main plan to a rustic look..

Good luck....

Take a look at this thread. It has been awhile, but I still remember this thread because the bed is beautiful.

You could build one in the Adirondack style. These are rustic, but a bit
more refined than a traditional log bed.
