I'm trying to dye a norfork pine bowl. It's not going so well. I so far have turned the piece, sanded, and applyed 2 coats of sanding sealer.
Next, I sanded the sealer throughly. After brushing on and wiping off the dye (blue) things started going a rye. Uneven absorption, spotching and you name it. The piece is not to my satisfaction. Tips appreciated. Thanks, Mark

i work with yellow pine alot, and the only way, imo, to get a consistent color coat is to spray it after applying your sealer. fwiw i don't sand after the sealer, i sand before, then seal, then spray the color coat, then buff the sprayed color coat before the top coat.
