Anyone build the tool chest in Woodsmith Issue #183 June/July 2009? If so would you please let me know what you think before I buy a $175.00 hardware kit for it . . .

Also, if anyone has an copy of Woodsmith Issue #183 June/July 2009 they would be willing to sell, I sure would appreciate it . . .

Thanks in advance,
Steve

P.S. If this needs to be moved please do so . . . . wasn't sure where to put it . . .:D

I for sure would not spend no $175.00 for a hardware kit.
I would just get some hardware close to it scrounged up at the flea markets.
Did you ever find the copy of issue 183?
Thanks Tony

Popular Mechanics November 1979, I was just reading a link where a guy built that one.
Steve, did you ever build one or start on the one from W/S 183?
I think I have the Rockler's plan, I got the pins to lock the front panel off them too.
I never started it though.
I already have a 20 wide Gerstner, so I thought if I build one, it will be the longer one, ~ 26" wide.
I am refinishing an older one now, on the fence as to go with Shellac again, or go with a wipe on poly/varnish this time.
Here is the Gerstner I refinished, (Shellac on this one) I had to make the new front panel for it too. You might have seen it on wood net.
Thanks, Tony

Good Job Anthony! I just had to dig out pix of the same Popular Mechanics chest I built for my oldest daughter in the early '80s. White oak, Defthane rubbed-out and waxed, with hardware ordered from catalogs of the period. It was a fun project. My daughter was thrilled with the chest for keeping her art painting supplies.

Thanks Chip, Yeah your's is the one I was talking about. Is that about 20" wide?
What is Defthane? is that the Deft brushing lacquer?
Thanks, Tony
Edit; Defthane looks to be a Polyurethane.

I apologize and it won't happen again.
