Can anyone recommended a good boat building book? My brother's built a couple of beautiful canoes, and has been toying with ideal of making small one /two personal sail boat for the last couple years. Just thought it might be good Xmass gift.

Matthew,
Sounds like a great Christmas present, Tough choice though on what to recommend...What boat building experience does he have? What type construction is he interested in IE. Stitch & Glue, Traditional, Ply on frame, etc. ?

He has very little boat experience. *EDIT* he is a very competent wood worker though, much more so than me. *EDIT* He's just built two canoes. Both used bead and cove strips of cedar, and some sort of clear fiber glass and resin. I don't know what kind of construction he would be interested in, recommendations? I think he would prefer to stay away from plywood though.

Perhaps more generalized then; http://www.amazon.com/Boatbuilders-Apprentice-Stitch-Glue-Strip-Planked/dp/0071464050/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1259504489&sr=1-14

I've read Greg's other book and it's excellent, a full spectrum type of book with real usable material that could referenced for years to years.

Good Luck,

Mac
