Hi, I recently purchased a #7 Stanley corrugated sole plane, and am having problems determining its age.

The plane has the following characteristics;

- black colour
- marked #7 in front of knob
- knob and tote are rosewood
- 1" diameter brass adjuster, straight knurling, left hand thread
-iron marked Stanley, Made in Canada
- bed, frog and cap have an S mark cast into them
- frog receiver has two shallow grooves parallel to side of plane

Thanks, Rod.

Hello Rod. Your plane is a type 7 manufactured between 1893 and 1899 if I remember correctly. The iron is a replacement. Seems to me corrugated soles started in 1898, which would make it a later type 7-Enjoy.

Thanks Steve, I had thought 1891 to 96, but wasn't sure.

The plane's in great shape and is destined for use, not collecting.

Regards, Rod.
