I'm cleaning up some of my junk. I found a can of these, right next to some cut head nails. I don't have a clue what they are used for - they don't have a sharp point, so I would think they are not a nail - or is that wrong thinking?

As Scott said its most likely for concrete. If the concrete is just set you can pound them in if your really really good with a hammer. Otherwise you have to drill a pilot hole.
Though I think that is also the form nails were made in back in the early days of carpentry and nail using.

+1 for Masonry spike.... I have used them, and never drilled a pilot hole. Once you get them in, they hold better than you would think.
