This Walnut HF is 8”X5.25” and is finished with 3 coats DO and buffed. The soft luster was not deep enough for my taste after buffing so I applied a coat of neutral Kiwi shoe polish and hand buffed it. Seems much better to me now. Guess this qualifies as a save. My goose neck boring bar hung on the lip and just destroyed the entire area. Well, it made hollowing easier after that with a much bigger mouth. I turned a tall Cherry replacement for the original and now missing piece…Bill..

Nice looking. I really like the contrast between the detail near the rim and the natural void. Great piece!

I think that's a beautiful birdhouse, Bill. :D I really like the contrasting cherry collar as much as if it was planned. Also like the detail at teh collar. Is that carving? Very pretty piece...pretty finish.

Bill - you did a nice job on your design modification! Really like the textured detail ring. Have to admit that I am not sure about the contrast in wood colors on this one. Just my opinion (as evidenced by all those in favor), but feel the natural cherry color competes to much with the rest of the form.

Chattering tool for the collar? Regardless, another very well done hollow form, Bill.

texturing was just done with a Dremel engraver...Bill...
