Hi I am interested in trying the alcohol method for drying bowl blanks.I am just wondering where to buy it and is there some special name I should be looking for.

Michael - I buy my at the local Menards home improvement store. You don't list your location - so suggest going to a home improvement or hardware store. What you are looking for is called Denatured Alcohol (DNA) and up here runs around $12 a gallon can.

I buy mine at a local Sherwin Williams paint store, but they have to order it in (my town is only 15,000 so lower volume at this location). I just picked up a 5 gal bucket on Dna and it was $48, but the store manager is giving me contractor pricing. It is a lot cheaper to buy it in the 5 gal cans and you cant really do much with only a couple gallons anyway. FYI

I believe in Canada denatured alcohol is sold as methylated spirit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denatured_alcohol)?

Now that you're able to find sources for the alcohol keep it mind it's not for drying bowl blanks but rather for drying roughed out bowls.
