Been awhile since I posted anything, and I have to blame this one on my daughter. She sent me a cell phone picture of a metal one with the text "Can you make one". This got the head gears spinning...and the lathe! :D While it took a bit of trial and error this one actually worked pretty well. (I made the outer rings a bit small on the first and they snapped the second time I spun it) However I was able to salvage the top and axle for this one. The second picture though will be the only "action" shot because when I pulled the string to get another the axle snapped in two. Ah well on to ver 2.0. Oh yeah the measurments are 7" x 7".

Now that looks like a fun project to try on the lathe. So many projects and so little time.
What you have looks good, I hope to see the final working one.

You put a lot of thought into that! Pretty cool! Best of luck with version 2.0!

Looks like one of those projects that have lots of love put into it! The completed 1.2 version looked very nice. You may have to make the axle out of aluminium or brass for strength, or some osage orange, hickory, elm or other very tough wood. Still a wonderful thing!
