The rarity of the adjustable dado saw, or its rip configured brother, the stair saw, is offset by the relative simplicity of making your own. Here's a pic of the one I made a while back.

The blade has slots in it and wing nuts on the side unseen allow the blade to be moved up or down.

I appreciate the education! I have collected a few myself- went from 2 to 8 planes over the summer. Here's a shot of my one-dollar #4, and one other I scooped at the same time.

Lief's post a while back is what got me interested in making the stair saw. I used some of his ideas and made up others as I went along.

That is a great lookin saw there. I gotta ask, somewhere and sometime back you mentioned you were between shops. Just wonderin how you keep track of the tons of tools you've got, especially the stuff handed down from family. I'd surely keep those pretty close.
