An elementary question about the base plate of a Skil H5510 5 1/2 inch circular saw. The base plate has an assembly that holds the slot for the bevel adjustment. Is the front face of this assembly supposed to be perpendicular to the left edge of the base plate?

When I hold a square on the base plate of my Craftsman model 135.27540 (which I think is the same saw) I find that the line of the square is about 1/16 th off the base plate of the saw near the back of the plate. So I'm thinking about ordering a new baseplate. I wouldn't want to do that if there was some subtle reason why the saw is supposed to have "toe-in".
