It is hard to say. If it is, it's really, really old.

Try the neanders. It doesn't look like it has a cord. Someone there may know. Nice find. I believe Starrett is short for L. S. Starrett, it may very well be.

I have one like it. Same deal. Was on a Starrett blade but no markings on the head itself. In my experience with the Starrett stuff the fit is pretty unique, you can not put a Brown and Sharpe blade in a Starret head for example. I think they are Starrett.

It's a Starrett. A couple of my older squares are marked "THE L.S.STARRETT CO." It may have ATHOL, MASS.U.S.A. The head may have STARRETT on the base.

I've never had problems mixing rulers and heads from different manufacturers. That's a good find.

I think the knurling on the nut should tell you. I can't give you much more than that except the Starrett ones I've seen look like yours with rounded over knurling.

I have one like that, marked L.S.S. with a 12" blade marked L.S. Starret.

You have a Starrett rule, but I think the head is a Union. It's good stuff too though, so use and enjoy! Starrett heads are marked, and shaped differently. Union used that "bent wire" looking casting.
