From another thread about spalting wood - I was told to get some anchor seal to paint on the end of my logs. I did a google search and came up with a bunch - I choise - uccoatings -. Contacted them for a sample and a FREE quart is on its way to me. I could not believe how quick they were to answer my e-mail request

Looking forward to giving it a try. Will report back my results in about six months or so!!!:D

Thanks for tips!

uccoatings is a great company to deal with. I haven't bought huge amounts from them but have gotten a few shipments and they always call to make sure I am happy and send X-Mas cars. Nice people.

Free is very cool.
Let us know how it works.
That's a new product to me.

The turning club I belong to purchased a 55 gal barrel from UCcoating last year. That price came under $5 per gallon. The barrel did not last very long. As a matter of fact I am down to my last gallon. Better ask the club if they are ready for another 55 gal.

I bought a 5 gallon pail from them a few years ago. Prompt service and great product.

Another cheap way to do it effectively is Home Depot's Henry's Roofing Tar in a water emulsion.

Works just as well as wax-emulsion sealers but 4 bucks a gallon and no shipping.

You have to trim the ends before planing, but I have to do that anyway with roughsawn boards.
