Hybrid Thread Mode

Quick question about a vBulletin setting. I (maybe the only one here) like to use the Hybrid thread display mode. There is a setting that limits the "depth" of thread replies that are displayed. Sometimes, this setting hides messages that are current or relevant to the discussion.
Could we either
1) increase the message "depth" to around 2-3 times what the current setting is, or
2) allow users to set this number for themselves?
