I picked this up a few weeks ago and haven't been able to find anything resembling it during my searches. It doesn't have any manufacturer's stamps or marks other than the Buck Brothers blade. The knob and tote appear to be original. It's low angle and doesn't have any type of blade adjustment mechanism. The blade is 2 1/2" wide. Length is 20 7/8" and width is 2 13/16". Anybody have a thought about who made it and when?

I have no idea but that sure looks like a stanley lever cap.Is there a letter cast on the lever cap?Might help to tell if the cap is a stanley.Maybe a proto type or a craftsman built plane?

I thought about that. The lever cap doesn't have any casting marks. It's the top one in the picture. The bottom is from a Stanley #8 type 11.

Sometimes when the lever is in the open position, a foundry mark is visible on the end of the lever.

It does look like an early Stanley lever cap, but a lot of them look alike.

I would like a plane like that for use on a shooting board.
