Other than the Festool "MiterFast Angle Transfer Device" and the "Miter Divider," are there any other tools or jigs out there that make bisecting angles easy?

Very simple to do with a compass or set of dividers.

1) Put the point of the compass at the intersection point of the angle.

2) Strike an arc across each line that forms the angle.

3) Put the point of the compass at the point where each of the arc's that you just struck intersect the lines of the angle.

4) Strike another arc in the center of the angle from each of those two points.

5) Connect where those two new arcs intersect and the intersection point of the original angle and you have bisected it.

Probably easier to understand if it were a picture. But, if you follow each step it should be easy to replicate.

Don't change the setting of the compass in between the steps outlined above!

Actually it doesn't matter as long as they stay the same for both arcs in #4

Thanks, John. Of course, you are correct on that! As long as the last two arc's are done with the same setting you get an accurate result.

Nobex multifix angle gauge. I have one (received a couple Christmas's back. I believe it is what Festool was looking at when they designed theirs.

Chris,

I have the smaller one, and only after I had it replaced did I appreciate its value. Some of the earlier units (and I assume this has been corrected by now), were off at least one degree or more, which in effect rendered it useless. I was very surprised that Starrett let their quality control tank like that. My only point here: double check before you purchase. If it's spot on - you've got a terrific tool; if not, you're got a fifty dollar paper weight.
