On the classified forum there was John Keeton about making tools from planner and jointer blades. He mentioned watching videos from Paul Atkins. Can someone point me to where the videos are? Also, I assumed he is making turning tools but I may be wrong.
Thanks,
Paul

Try one of these...he has four videos total. Paul uses some specialized tools to help achieve specific profiles on spindles.

Paul's videos are very well done IMO!

I have 4 videos posted so far, but have not gotten the tool making in video form yet. I have 2 more that I'm editing right now, but I have to see if I am on jury duty for up to 8 weeks starting tomorrow. Then I get to have 8 weeks of work piled up to do. Hmm, what's wrong with this picture? Anyway, I'm having fun doing these and trying to evolve. Just built a new camera mount and looking at another camera. Thanks for the encouragement too.

Thanks Paul. I've been turing about 8 months now and just trying to figure out how to get all the tools I want but not spend a fortune. I'm not a tool maker or have tools to make many things that can't be shaped on a grinder but I'll try it if I can.
Thanks,
Paul

See if you can find a copy of Alan Lacer's DVD on tool making, Shopmade Woodturning Tools & Jigs. As the title suggests, Alan shows you how to make several tools, including hook tools, a parting tool, chatter tool, and awls. Unlike Alan's other DVDs, I've not seen this one. Based on his other DVDs, I have to assume this one is very good.

You can buy it from his website: http://www.alanlacer.com/
