Like many I still have not found much lathe time. Still trying to figure out where it went. I have been working on this piece of maple for at least a month on and off. The wood has a lot going on with it including some burl. Lid and finial are ebony. Measures 6" dia. x 11" tall. Finished with antique oil and buffed. As always your comments/critiques are welcome. Thanks for looking.

keith, very nice form. again, i'm a big fan of hollow forms, and i think yours is of a shape that is becoming a standard around here (read: classic). wonderful lines, color - that maple has nice figure - and the thin finial; well done!

Classic would describe this one. Nice finial as well, fits the piece.

WOW! That is some amazing wood! Beautiful form and I like the slightly raised lip. Your finial is wonderful! Clean lines, delicate detail work and great proportions. Another winner for sure! Thanks for sharing!

Hope you are able to find some more time in the shop real soon! Looking forward to seeing what's next!

Keith,

You may not have been getting much lathe time but you surely haven't lost any skill as a result!

Gorgeous wood....great finish and classical form.

Nicely done Sir!

Beautiful wood and the form is right on except....

unlike Steve I am not enamored with the raised lip and somewhat flat base to the finial. It is distracting for me but that is just me.

Beautiful, bet it would look great without the finial.

Beautiful wood and form. I immediately noticed the finial was recessed and thought that was unusual. After looking some more, decided that I like the little lip.

Keith that is absolutely beautiful! The finial/lid looks like something new that I haven't noticed you do before, the lid being slightly domed and recessed in the opening. I really like the way it looks.

The small bottom works well and the piece is very proportional. Looks like a winner........
