Hi all,

I'm trying to measure some wood species that aren't listed on my (new) lignomat D scanner. According to lignomat you can look up the species specific gravity and use that value. However...

I looked up some values on the web and found this -

lignomat web
----------------
hond mahogany - .40 .54
wenge - .80 .88
wh ash - .62 .60
red oak - .60 .63

For maples, the lignomat table just specifies "maple"

maple - .62 (lignomat)
soft maple - .47 to .54 (web)
hard maple - .68 (web)

Now, since I'm trying to measure hard maple (and afr mahog) I'm a bit confused here. I assume a small SG error won't matter much but what value do I use for my hard maple? I'd like to believe lignomat that you just enter the specific gravity but it would be nice if their values agreed with what I find on the web (or are the ligno values correct and the web, as usual, random) ?

Any help would be appreciated. A totally accurate lumber SG table would sure be nice...

thanks,
Mark
