Just a little update of what I’ve been doing for the last several weeks at Barking Sands/PMRF on Kauai. We launched our 6th rocket last Thursday. The first stage with the white fins is a 31” dia. Talos solid-fuel rocket that burns 4000 lbs of propellant in about 5 seconds (really pulling some g’s here!) The second stage is a slower burning Castor motor that pushes the payload to its final apogee.
I’ll be heading home in a couple of weeks. I’ve almost forgotten what the shop looks like.

Bruce, you've created a monster! Biggest rocket I ever made was an Estes Saturn model. It was about as tall as yours is in diameter!!!!

Bruce,

I figured it's range was beyond the capability of my small lawn!

Great pic Bruce.

How the heck do you find it when it lands if it goes 200 miles...

Gary, it eventually splashes into the ocean. All the test data is sent back from the vehicle via satellite and a few um, boats.

Are them boats like um submarines?

Cool Pics Bruce. A long time ago in a life far away that was my navy job. Missile Technician for Polaris/Posiedon Missiles.

so basically what you are saying is that you get the data after the navy retreives them and declares them to not be from across the ocean?:D
