My friend down the street got a Grizzly 37" drum sander a year or so ago. Man was I jelous! I had a couple of coffee table tops that i recently took to his shop and sanded them flat. Wow, that thing was a beast. Just knew I had to have one so $3200 later (with free shipping) I have one sitting in my shop now. No longer will I dread board glue ups that will have to be sanded (which i hate). Just a few passes and BAM, done! Now, what to do with my Delta 18-36" drum sander???

Just so you know, the pic from Grizzly's website does not count.

Here ya go! I just thought it would be easier to steal off their website. But I do understand the high that woodworkers get peeking in other peoples shops. I know I do.

Darrin - with all due respect, you and your neighbor gotta go to a bar for an hour or so and get your act together. He already had the 2-head wide-belt sander, so you shoulda gotten something like this.

"But honey, Fred lets me use his sander, so I got the lathe we can both use" or, something like that. Then its his turn next, then yours, keep this up, and before long you get together and buy a house in between you, knock out all the interior walls, and move everything there.

All kidding aside - that is a tremendous piece of equipment. When we moved to this house, my shop CAD layout has a spot for a machine like this. My bank account says no. For now.

I see you put a box over the DC outlets on the sander, to just run one piece of ductwork to it. What size flex are you using? Does it work well?
I am just curious here.

It doesn't work worth a crap right now. I have a 600 cfm delta mobile dust collector that I've temp. attached to it until my 6" spiral pipe comes in with the accessories. The machine needs a min. of 1200 cfm so I will be hooking it up to my Woodtek 5HP dust collector that connects most of the machines in my shop. For now, it works just well enough to not make you not run out of the shop choking. Can't wait until this machine gets some major sucking attached to it.
