I have some great looking cedar but it was just cut a month ago. Can it be dried with denatured alcohol soak method? I would like to turn some bowls from it. Thanks in advance for the help.

Mark - I have used the DNA method for drying roughed out turnings for a couple of years now and it works really good as long as you turn to a consistent thickness. You can do a search here on the Creek for more info on procedures used and can also check out these sites:

I have used the DNA method on several cedar bowls with excellent luck.

Dna on cedar works great and from my own experience, I think the rough out drys in less than a month. (I soak overnight and wrap with 2 layers of newspaper, cutting air holes in the open portion of the form)
I didnt think I would like working with cedar, but its great and I am always looking for more. Makes the shop smell great!
