My high school woodshop class goes through a lot of wood filler each year. Need your thoughts on types of wood filler that you like that will last more than half the can or half the tube before drying up. I don't like solvent based fillers but I am not opposed to using them if i find one that works well.

I detest working with wood filler but if you must, the solvent based ones can often be brought back to life by mixing in some acetone and stirring well.

Hi,

I would suggest another take on this... How about a 100% water based wood filler? Take a look at this product: Timbermate (http://www.timbermate.com/timbermate-wood-filler-is-the-only-non-shrinking-water-based-wood-filler-on-the-market)

I'm currently trying it out right now and my initial findings are impressive.

Hope this helps,

Benoit

i also use timbermate, no complaints thus far.

previously used famowood. for finishing, they're pretty comparable. famo dries faster since it's solvent based, but they do sell the solvent to re-mix it with.
