I got the gate finish sanded, one coat epoxy, re-sand, and second coat of epoxy. The epoxy really brought out the detail and color of the wood. I then ordered the hardware and planned the frame and wall / fence details.

Shawn, you are right! That wood really popped with the finish. And, I do like the darker accent on that cross piece - good idea on staining it.

I assume the frame and fence are from the same wood?

Yes, the balance of wall / fence will also be afromosa. I am vacillating on whether to or how much walnut accent.
