Stanley Sweetheart SW

So I see this label on various Stanley tools. Apparently there was a period in the early to mid 1900's when Stanley used this label. I am wondering what, if anything, it signifies. Some of what I have read seems to indicate that these tools are of a higher grade but I have not found any specifics.

I am guessing that we have users out there. I would like some input, especially in regard to braces.

To the best of my understanding ( and there are alot more knowlegeable Neanders than I ) the heart was to signify the passing of one of Stanley Works head honchos; SW stands for Stanley Works.

As for degree of quality, it generally was used for a specific number of years, and those years produced a good product - I think there is more info in the link below ( borrowed from an earlier thread ).

This will give you a start.

Interesting how the ' new ' planes from Stanley have grabbed the Sweetheart logo - - - - I am still a LV / LN kinda guy.

I am a LV plane fan. I have a couple old Record's and an aged Paragon from Garrett Wade that I will be doing a little restoration work on. I still have a couple LV planes/scrapers I want too.

At the moment I am working on my drill collection. I have a couple 10" braces. One was suppose to be a 12" but the seller apparently did not know how to measure. I have been looking at 12" and 6-8" braces and seeing the SW mark. The chucks on the drills look similar to some of the better Millers Falls braces and I was wondering if they were comparable.
