As long as the cap was empty, you'll be fine.

I think the mere fact he put it in the dishwasher pretty much confirms the cap is generally "empty" :D

Nah, I wear mine all the time for shop work & yard work. I wash when needed, its held up well.

It all depends upon whether or not you put the fine china in the clothes washer.
