So the day before entries were due, my wife asked if I wanted to enter a local art show. So on a lark, I entered some pieces...and to my surprise :)

The winner (on the left) is the shape of a Panatenaic Amphorae that I found online. They were Greek vessels, given to athletes in the Panatenaic games, held every 4 years. The feature ring was inspired by Malcolm Tibbetts "For the Boy King". Cherry, with maple and walnut accents. The other two are pet urns...with screw lids.

Beautiful pieces. How many hours do you have tied up in that blue ribbon piece?

Oh, about...that many :) Seriously, I have no clue. 720 pieces. It was one of those "do it during breaks with summer chores" kinda things, and drug on for about 2 months or so. Segmented vessels are weird that way...very little time to cut the segments, but a lot longer to assemble and glue them up.

Very nice work Dick! Guess you could call it a stude-E-O now, but "shop" is easier to say.

I don't know of your shop is now a studio but for sure you're going have to get a black beret and one of those long black cigarette holders.

Congratulations!
