This piece has some nice spalting in it. The rim is burned. Measures 9 x 6, no finish just buffed with a little mink oil.

Looks real nice, Mike. Question, was the rim in that shape or did you cut it in that shape and then burn it?

Mike, the bowl is great! On the wood; is it soft or hard maple?? I would guess sugar maple by the color....???

Very nice. I was wondering what your top speed was with all that spalting. Did you finish it with a vacuum chuck, jam chuck?

Its sugar maple. Top speed was probably around a thousand and slow light cuts. I did the bottom with a vac chuck.

Mike,

When I'm scanning threads here and see your name, I always open it up and I'm never disappointed. That's another beautifully crafted turning from beautiful wood.

Beautiful work... I'm not sure you've ever posted anything that I didn't like. Great spalt on the piece.
