Dating a Wadkin AGS

i have a Wadkin 12"AGS with machine no. 783857. Does this no. indicate that it is built in 1978, and that it is the 3857th 12"AGS built that year?

Wow, I'm LOL. I read the heading and thought "This guy is more of a tool junkie than me, he is "dating" his shaper." My wife won't allow me to date my shaper, though we can hold hands now and then.:D
