I'm still trying to get this video thing figured out, so I made a short clip of turning a bun foot. I have another set of 2 year old clips of parts for 12 rocking chairs that I'm editing and putting voice over on. Just thought I'd share.

Paul,
Way to go. Great video. I appreciate the trouble you went to in the posting of it.
Great tool control. It should help people understand the proper use of a gouge.

Paul, I want you to know how much I appreciate the effort you are taking to edit and post these videos. To a newbie they are like gold - really gives some valuable techniques and makes one feel like it is possible to master this turning thing!

I look forward to seeing the rest of them!

Paul, Besides the fact that your tool control and the ease of how you approach the wood will be great for new and old turners alike. You calm and steady tone of speaking and explaining what is happening is nice. Thanks for posting a very nice little how to video.

Paul,
Kudos to you! We thank you for the effort and the excellent presentation. Even those of us that have been at it for a while can learn something....never heard of that sandpaper...can you share your source?

Wally, this is one example - though the profile of the ones Paul did are "fatter."

Paul, as the others have said, great video: good camera angle, good narration, good technique.

The only minor suggestion I would offer you is to consider replacing your picture on that Vimeo page with the one you have here on SMC. The one you have here looks very professional and instructor-like, but the one on vimeo looks a bit like a (dare I say ) "mugshot". :)

Yeah I'll have to update both to keep up with Steve S. My wife hates the mugshot too.

Thanks John. I've turned a few of them myself and didn't have a name for them.

Maybe we can get you a guest gig with Tim Yoder. Is that Tormek dude still hangin' around?
