I saw this on Facebook and thought it might inspire someone... it's a second place trophy being used as a doorstop. Nice!

cheers, dee

I'm not sure this thing is an actual trophy. It says "Participant", so it may as well be called a "mercy reward" ;)

LOL, that's frikkin' hilarious. I think that pic should be made into one of those faux-inspirational posters.

I have engraved 10 wooden doorstops to a customer but he failed to sell them.

Who needs -customized- doorstops ?

Should I mention it was holding open the door to the bathroom?

I could think of a booby prize like that, The Doorstop Award. Given in jest possibly. Or even a rock solid award.

Its something you put against a door to stop it closing.
I think they use lead filled Babushka dolls in the old soviet union .. used to be dissidents body parts in stalin's era :)
PS my grandparents came from lithuania..some shtetel - dunno the name

If they had made that thing out of chocolate, or gave out some fast food cupons, it would have been appreciated.

At least it is being put to use! Most trophies land up on a shelve collecting dust!!

(Sorry...now I'm having "knit brick cozy" flashbacks...)

OOOOH! Now I understood. Thank's, Rodney! Unfortunatley almost half of Lithuanians lived outside country :(

Usually in soviet time we even didn't KNOW about this feature :) In Soviet Army we just put piece of wood on floor and fix with few nails.

Now we use magnet fixings for badges from JDS :) as doorstops. One piece is on door, another on wall/floor.

I engrave a number of prizes and awards during the Polo season and quite often do custom made door stops - blocks of reclaimed teak with wrought iron crossed polo mallets. If you can't beat 'em ...
